Being on a porch sounds pleasant enough, but not for dogs who are permanently living chained to a porch. But that was the case for eleven-year-old Babygirl and twelve-year-old Chocolate, a pair of Bully Breed mixes. On June 26th, a man who said he had been the boyfriend of the woman who owned the dogs, took them to the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in rural Bamberg County in South Carolina because she was not taking care of them. Much to the shelter's surprise, neither dog had heartworms. However, both had fleas and skin issues. Babygirl had patches of inflamed skin that had thickened, her ears were dirty and infected, and she had very long nails.
