"Help Us!" is the banner that Banner and his canine companion, Johnson, needed after their second arrival at the Sampson County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on November 4th. Three-year-old Banner and one-year-old Johnson, both Labrador Retriever-Hound-mixes were strays taken to the shelter on October 29th. It almost seemed too good to be true when they were both adopted together. And indeed it was. When both dogs tested heartworm positive, back to the shelter they went. Because they were now owner surrenders, they were immediately at the top of the shelter's euthanasia list.
