Luckily, the staff at Edgecombe County Animal Shelter in North Carolina answered the door on May 25th, and Izzy (formerly Patches) started down the road from being a stray to finding safety. Shelter staff noted that Izzy was submissive and a bit head shy indicative of a possible abusive past, but she was soaking up all the love they could give her. Just as things were starting to look up for Izzy, this medium-sized four-year-old Terrier mix found herself on the list of dogs to be euthanized. She had heartworms, making it expensive for a rescue to pull her.
