It was February 24th, and Marilyn's three-day hold time was up at the shelter. This meant she could be euthanized at any time. A two to three-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, Marilyn was picked by animal control as a stray February 21st and taken to the Vance County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina. Despite being a great girl with a happy disposition, she was very much at-risk because she was larger, black and heartworm positive. She was also extremely underweight and had a mammary mass.
