"There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats." Ironically, the cat part of that famous quote by Albert Schweitzer had quite the opposite effect for this Albert. It was Albert's dislike of cats that caused him to end up in the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina in late December. The woman who claimed to have found Albert as a stray said she couldn't keep him because he didn't like her cats. At the shelter Albert really faced the miseries of life, and the greater risk of losing his life. Making matters worse for Albert, a two-year-old Pit Bull mix, he tested heartworm positive.
