If Anabel had been deserted at the altar on July 7th instead of being picked up as a stray dog, she wouldn't have felt any worse. Anabel was taken to the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. A scan showed that she had a microchip. Her owner was contacted, but when he arrived to pick her up, he left her there rather than pay the pick-up fee. He had gotten her the chip, then he gave her the slip. Normally a dog like Anabel would have plenty of prospects from which to choose. She is young, pretty, cultured, mannered, sweet, friendly, sociable and playful. But because she was heartworm positive, Anabel could not even be shown on the adoption floor. A rescue was her only hope.
