Things got a bit thorny when Rosy's owner surrendered her to the Surry County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on August 11th. Rosy's owner said that she kept trying to get off the property and would be safer at shelter. When he was told that it was a kill shelter and Rosy would not be safe at all because owner surrenders can be killed upon intake, he wouldn't listen. It was suggested that he get Rosy spayed and maybe she would not wander. Assistance was even offered, but the owner was adamant and left Rosy. She is a four-year-old Boxer mix and, of course, was heartworm positive.
