Darcie and Dora are a dynamic mom and daughter duo who arrived at Chesterfield County Animal Services in South Carolina as strays on May 25th. Dora, at only seven weeks old and mere seven pounds, was still nursing from her mom. It was apparent that both mom and pup has some skin issues. Further testing revealed that both dogs had highly contagious sarcoptic mange and Darcie, a one-year-old, 35-pound Labrador-Shepherd mix, tested positive for heartworms. These two were unlikely candidates for adoption or rescue due to the need for quarantine while they were treated for the skin condition, and Darcie’s heartworms.
