Here's the lowdown on Lola: at risk, then safe, then at risk again, and finally truly safe. This two-year-old Hound-Pit Bull mix was one of 11 dogs found chained outside and starving in Rowan County, North Carolina. When an anonymous caller alerted animal control on June 12th, all 11 dogs were seized and taken to the Rowan County Animal Shelter the same day. The animal control officers reported that the dogs were near death, having been without food or water for some time. A local vet volunteered her services to exam the dogs and provide essential vet treatment. She determined that all the dogs should fully recover with proper care.
