Things were not so ducky for Duckie, a two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier. When Duckie arrived at the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on June 25th, he had a badly injured left hind leg. Because he was dragging the paw of his injured leg, he had developed an open and raw wound. This shelter has no funds for any vet care, so it was up to volunteers to get Duckie evaluated by a vet. When the vet examined Duckie on June 27th, it was determined that his leg had permanent nerve damage and would need to amputated ASAP.
