Just like the mythological phoenix, this Phoenix was determined to rise above the remains of her pre-shelter life and go on to live a better post-shelter life. Phoenix is a two-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who arrived at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on February 4th. Phoenix was one of four stray Hound mixes who arrived at the shelter that day. Hounds are especially at risk at rural shelters, and Phoenix faced long odds of getting out alive.
